Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. -Philippians 4:8 (ESV)
This is the test. Forgetting your selfish desires and need for self-indulgence, filter your habits, entertainment, relationships, etc through this list. God commands that we think on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable and excellent. Often Satan tries to deceive us into thinking, "I can watch/do/love this thing because it doesn't really affect me. I don't agree with it and I won't go out and do it." But look at this verse. It isn't talking about action; it's talking about thoughts! God knows that our thoughts lead to actions, and even when something seems harmless, it isn't. Will it be easy to let go of the things we've allowed ourselves to fall in love with? No. But will it be worth it? Completely. Our God, the lover of our souls, has so much more for us! But we must come to Him with an undivided heart.
Teach me your way, , that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. -Psalm 86:11 (NIV)
