the wall

last night i watched a documentary about the myth of the separation of church and state. i am going to explore this subject further, but here are some things that stuck out to me. first of all, this establishment clause which has been so widely misinterpreted- those who would purport that the government should not establish a religion are contradicting themselves, for in that very moment they themselves are establishing a religion- the religion of secularism! there can be no neutrality in this issue. you are either on God's side or not. God is either truth or He's not. bottom line. so many people have conveniently forgotten the original intent of the framers of the Constitution. they were coming from an oppressive British king who wanted to force them to attend his government's church. this is what they were trying to escape by coming to America. this is NOT the same thing as keeping the government and religion separate. the establishment clause simply states that Congress should make no law concerning the ESTABLISHMENT of religion.

1930-1941, Charles Evans Hughes (1862-1948) the Court's Chief Justice for eleven years said "We are under a Constitution, but the Constitution is what the judges say it is."
how true...
